A self-documentary in which the filmmaker traces time spent with her family while returning to her hometown and her old room, and searches for herself. Longstanding conflicts come to the surface through her conversations with her mother, and spill out of the filmmaker’s monologue like water from a rag being wrung out. In this work the difficulty of dealing with this conflict and trying to be as you are is reflected in an unstable but powerful gaze.
　

TAKAMURA Ai

Born in Kochi in 1994, lived there until age 18. Graduated from Taisho University’s Department of Communication and Culture Media Production Course. Claims herself a transvestite who gets a chill when she wears women’s clothes. Confronted the differences in gender consciousness in rural areas and big cities in her graduation project Ai am… (2015).
