An old red album is opened. A voice that seems to be remembering its family begins speaking. A message to “those people” to whom there is a deep connection but who can now only be known through these media. Like tofu-wrapped sushi appearing in a story, “those people” in another person’s memory are gathered up, clumped together, and put in a line. Animation is a modern attempt at portraiture that bridges the gap between record and memory.
