TRAIN, a work in the “Matsumae-kun Series,” is a neo-hybrid work shot/edited/screened while being trained that connects Matsumae, Kochi, Tokyo, Mito, Okayama, Sharjah, Dharamsala, Dubai, Deli, Kinshasa, Athens, Columbia, and other locations. Its theme is “materiality and spirituality.”
Born in Tokyo in 1964, currently lives in Kochi. Graduated from the Architecture Program in the Tokyo University Faculty of Engineering. Graduate of the Image Forum Institute of the Moving Image. Won the Berlin International Film Festival NETPAC Prize for HEAVEN-6-BOX. Created the first two-sided moving image work for “Aichi Triennale 2016.” Leads the “M・I” team that has appeared in eighteen consecutive Kochi Yosakoi festivals.
