KUROSAKA Keita / digital / color / 24min. / 2015
Created using several thousand pencil drawings accumulated over a three-year period beginning in 2012, this work is divided into four sections that evoke spring, summer, autumn and winter. These visuals put aside the filmmaker’s personal feelings and show only “what is there.” They are intended to play the role of “catalyst” in the formation of a new mental landscape within the minds of those who view them.
Has won numerous awards at domestic and international film festivals, including Annecy and Ottawa. Major works include the feature-length animated film MIDORI-KO (2010) and a music video for DIR EN GREY’s “RINKAKU” (2012). Gave a live charcoal drawing performance as part of the “Kurosaka Keita Special Program” at the 2017 Monzen Film Festival. His eccentric youth animation MATIERICA (2016) is expected to be released within the year.
