The film “Rambo 3” was actually filmed in Israel and Palestine. Hollywood’s depiction of war propaganda, people chased out of their homeland and colonial ideaology…This is a documentary where many stories cross three dimensionally through interviews taken at the film location site.
“Rambo 3” (1988) is an entertainment film set during the Cold War in Afghanistan where Rambo, played by Sylvester STALLONE, gets the cooperation of the Mujahideen people to defeat the Soviet Army. The film was shot in the Negev desert with the cooperation of the Israeli army. The Palestinian man who joined the film as an explosive technician, is an artist who puts down in his drawings, the memories of the homeland passes on by his Beduin ancestors. From the experience he talks about during the shooting of the film and from visual material of Slyvester STALLONE’s intervierw, we can see a complexity of geopolitics through this motion picture of entertainment which simply and straightforwardly depicts rewarding the good and punishing evil.
