The Tsugua Diaries

Miguel GOMES+Maureen FAZENDEIRO / digital / 102min. / 2021

A crew shoots a film in a quiet rural village during the lockdown period of the new coronavirus. Men and women spend thoughtfully intimate days in the dazzling sunlight of Portugal. As the title of the film suggests, their diaries are told in reverse order. This film is both an ode to the month of August, the height of summer, and to creativity in filmmaking, and is the latest work by Miguel Gomes, an up-and-coming filmmaker known for “Heat Wave” and other works.
