Gregory Markopoulos was a leading force in the creation of new films in America in the 1960s as a writer of the same generation as Maya DEREN, Jonas Mekas and Kenneth Anger. “Iliac Passion”, in which the characters of the Greek tragedy are played by the mythical stars of the New York underground, is considered one of his representative works. MARKOPOULUS himself narrates Thoreau’s English translation of “Prometheus Bound.”
