We present a selection of cinematic masterpieces of Peter Tscherkassky,“ the maestro of found footage”. Peter Tscherkassky is widely known for found footage films, such as his masterpiece Outer Space, which is included in the “all-time best movies” list by Sight & Sound magazine. His unique, frottage-like production method, where the image and soundtrack of an existing film are manually printed on another film in a darkroom – creating a work completely different from the original movie – is rightfully considered as one of a kind. These works, which emphasize the “materiality” of the film medium, are presented in their original format.
