Hanoi Doclab, a center for documentary and experimental films and video art, was created in 2009 to help cultivate a new generation of Vietnamese independent filmmakers and media artists while encouraging the development of a local audience. The activities in Doclab include basic and advanced film production and editing workshops, weekly public screenings and discussion, hosting visiting filmmakers and video artists, a video library accessible to the public.
We also organize an annual film festival, the Hanoi DocFest, where documentary and fiction, narrative and abstract film and poetry cross paths, where latest productions from DocLab and beyond ー telling stories with diverse styles and voices and exploring and developing diverse film languages ー provide an insight into the process of shaping a new generation of experimental filmmakers and moving image artists in Vietnam.
