In February, 2004, PARK Il-soo, a subcontracted worker at South Korea’s Hyundai Heavy Industries, committed suicide by self-immolation. Amid intensifying labor disputes surrounding increased irregular hiring in the aftermath of an economic crisis, his death led to further conflict. The latest work by an acclaimed filmmaker who was selected for the 2026 Korea Artist Prize and whose Melting Icecream won an award at the Image Forum Festival in 2022.
