This is the latest film from Diemantas NARKEVIČIUS, one of Lithuania’s greatest contemporary artists. This is a captivating story, using 3D to depict a Lithuanian forest in the late 1800s, a time when faith surrounding sprites, curses and the world after death remained strong.
One summer afternoon. Premonitions of a coming storm. An old man warns that on these days, sprites come out and disguise themselves as humans. Two girls. One of them gets bidden by a poisonous snake. The two talk about the world after death. Reality intermingles with fantasy and eventually, one can not distinguish the boundary separating the characters from the audience. With individualized precision, the visual magic of Diemantas NARKEVIČIUS manifests Lithuania’s ingenious worldview which is contrary to the worldview of Christianity.
