A Rock
A collection of 5 performative documentaries from Hong Kong presenting a new nodal point of two art forms of performance crossing documentaries.
A best selection from the “Jumping Frames — Hong Kong International Movement-image Festival,” the only image festival in Asia with “body” as its theme which treat performances, dance and visual art on a hybrid basis. Five works will be presented: “A Rock” where childhood experiences of the cinematographer overlap with the tense relationship to the cinematographed subject matter. “This is A Chicken Coop,” where China’s social structure is depicted through bodies of immigrant workers. “Two Solos One Dance Three Frames” where the bodies of 2 Latin dancers intersect with a private narrative. “No Songs to Sing” where a surrealistic portrait of urban Hong Kong’s underclass is depicted and “Tear Inside” where the camera stares at dancers who are instructed to hold their breath.
