Inspired by the disappearance of Ayotzinapa students, The Sun Quartet is a four-part work that exposes the fissures in Mexican history, from the 1968 Tlatelolco massacre to the violence of colonialism. Layering improvised music, poetry, records of resistance movements, and multiple exposures, it presents an approach to moving images that resists the historical narrative monopolized by the state.
