A quarter century has passed since the era of digital moving images began in earnest. Technological revolutions such as 3D computer graphics, AI and digital photography have greatly expanded the potential for moving image expression. These four works bring together new and old technologies to develop narratives with new approaches.
Homecoming is a documentary that depicts the hometown of a young Ukrainian who has fled to Poland through the futuristic figure of a robot dog. Existential Greg is a work in which unforeseeable developments are born out of a simple idea. Glass House constructs a fantastical world through AI animation. Merrimundi, from the production team behind The Wolf House/La Casa Lobo, presents an evolution of traditional puppet animation driven by outlandish imagination.
