ZHANG Moying/digital/12min/2026

Doing as they are told by their parents, young girls swear in front of a top university that someday they will be admitted to it. Through a child’s perspective, home videos that presumably remain in the memories of mothers and fathers wishing for their children’s happiness are ironically transformed into an archive revealing the egotism of parents and the social structures that lie behind it. Stitched together out of home videos from the filmmaker’s own childhood, is this film a black comedy or a child’s small act of revenge?

ZHANG Moying
ZHANG Moying is an artist working with moving image, installation, and digital media. Her practice explores memory, power, and emotional experience through personal archives and found footage. By recontextualizing family videos and everyday images, she examines the relationship between observation, control, and the construction of identity. She is currently developing interdisciplinary projects combining 3D environments and interactive systems.

Liquor

Yi-Chen HUANG/digital/5min/2025

To save her mother beset by illness, a woman tries to suck the water pooling in her head through a giant straw made from an umbilical cord that her mother has pulled out of her own body. Her mother’s form fades away, however, and the woman herself sinks into the water to wander the sea of memories. A richly imaginative work that portrays the relationship between mothers and daughters through powerful images. Screened at the 2026 International Short Film Festival Oberhausen.

Yi-Chen HUANG
As a passionate artist with a focus on animation and visual communication, my journey began in Taiwan, where I earned my Bachelor of Fine Arts from the National Taiwan University of Arts. Drawn to Berlin’s vibrant art scene, I relocated there and completed my studies in Visual Communication Design at the Weißensee Academy of Art Berlin in 2014, where I gained my first experiences in animation filmmaking. My film “Kern,” which explores the use of nuclear energy, was screened at the 4th International Uranium Film Festival and the 2nd Boddinale Berlin. Currently, I am deepening my passion for animation at the Film University Babelsberg, where I am pursuing a Master’s degree in Animation Directing.

Where Clouds Once Formed

SU Yu Hsin/digital/14min/2025

The desert landscape of Arizona, which has become a locus of AI processing and semiconductor production, is filmed from a self-driving car. What unfolds before the lens is an unrealistic techno-utopia born out of a natural environment without water and shaped by an industry that consumes vast amounts of this resource. The rain song of the desert Tohono O’odham people layered into the soundtrack asks, “What is human wisdom?”

SU Yu Hsin
SU Yu Hsin is a Taiwanese artist and filmmaker based in Berlin and Taipei. Her research-oriented practice approaches ecology through its close relationship with technology. Combining fieldwork with interdisciplinary collaboration, she develops hydropoetic and analytical narratives that examine water as both a carrier of environmental history and a contested medium in our technonatural present. Her works have been exhibited internationally in museums, biennials, and film festivals.

Blue Flow

SHEN Linzi/digital/21min/2026

A depiction of people living in the same riverside area in different eras: 1952, 1983, and 1995. Through long takes with horizontal movement, the scenery unfolds through time like a painted scroll, and the images of a fish and a girl jumping into the river connect memories across eras. Quotations from “The Orchid Pavillion Preface” also serve to subtly evoke the eternal flow of time and the transience of human life.

SHEN Linzi
SHEN Linzi is a Beijing-based filmmaker. She was introduced to experimental cinema during an exchange program at Shih Hsin University in 2013 and founded an independent production studio in Beijing in 2019. Working across commercial and documentary film, her practice explores how time, space, and memory are inscribed in moving images. Blue Flow is her first independently produced short film.

Creep Beneath the Earth

YAMADA Sanae/digital/34min/2026

Catfish, which were long ago thought to cause earthquakes, have also been seen as symbols of the hope of reconstruction. Through the political science of “disasters and reconstruction,” this voluble essay film evokes the feel of modern Japanese society imbued with both a sense of stagnation and a premonition of catastrophe. It shares its geographically and historically macro perspective that goes beyond the human scale with the filmmaker’s With Friction, As Friction, which was screened at the 2018 Image Forum Festival.

YAMADA Sanae
YAMADA Sanae is an artist based in Tokyo. Through fieldwork-based video production focusing on the relationships between environments and their inhabitants, Yamada explores how the body and mind are situated within their very surroundings. Her recent works include An Emergency Drill for Forgetful Me and Us (2025), Before It Happens (2022) and With Friction, As Friction (2018).
