There is simultaneously a manifestation of subjective suffering and the pain of talking about oneself. The unique chyron features a \u201cwomen\u2019s script\u201d used in Hunan Province, China. Against the urban landscape of contemporary Macao, the screen is filled with card tricks that deceive the eyes of the audience. A beautiful, ironic fairytale of a city of illusions, told through the eyes of a \u201cjoker\u201d who is kicked out of a casino.<\/p>\n<p>    <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/2025\/images\/B2_director_LAO-KengU.jpg\" class=\"port\" alt=\"LAO Keng U\" \/><br \/>\n    <strong>LAO Keng U<\/strong><br \/>\n    Keng U LAO is a filmmaker and artist. He graduated from Arts University Bournemouth with a BA degree in Film Directing. Through different materialities of the moving image, Lao explores the performativity of theatrical magic as an expanded metaphor for how perceptions and imaginaries of reality are manipulated and generated. A large crow sits on a utility pole. When a boy looks up at it, he hears a voice from somewhere. It is the crow. The crow releases purely white droppings in front of the boy, and says of the shape of their splatter, \u201cIt is a star.\u201d An allegory containing cultural commentary unfolds. But to whom do the words she is speaking belong? The story is given multiple layers, time gets mixed up, and tricks are hidden. Eventually, like a person losing consciousness, the \u201ctruth\u201d told by the film becomes ambiguous. The latest work by up-and-coming South Korean filmmaker YU Chae, whose narrative experiments deepen with each film.<\/p>\n<p>    <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/2025\/images\/B4_director_YU-Chae.jpg\" class=\"port\" alt=\"YU Chae\" \/><br \/>\n    <strong>YU Chae<\/strong><br \/>\n    Chae Yu is based in Seoul(KR)\/Chicago(US) and is interested in experiencing different expressive positions in sound and image. Her films trace the rhythmic continuity of bodily gestures, exploring how they connect with transient places where relationships between individuals dissolve.
