Quando l’occhio trema
A leading figure in Italian experimental film in the 1970s, Paolo GIOLI began his career as a painter and was also internationally renowned as a photographer. His films are receiving renewed acclaim for their ambitious approach that enthusiastically employs techniques from the prehistory of cinema such as pinhole cameras and sequential photographs to paradoxically retrace the history of moving images, and this program offers a selection of his works never before screened in Japan.
